Steven McKay

Steven McKay, AIA, RIBA, is CEO of DLR Group, a global, 100% employee-owned integrated design firm. A native of Scotland, he received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and Bachelor of Architecture from Strathclyde University in Glasgow. He practiced in Glasgow and Jamaica before joining DLR Group in Seattle in 1996. McKay has led the firm's practice of integrated design since 2002, focusing on design excellence within an integrated design culture. He was instrumental in founding the firm's corporate practice encompassing Mixed-Use, Retail, and Workplace. In 2013, he helped establish DLR Group's Shanghai office and collaborated with Architecture 2030 founder Edward Mazria on the China Accord. A Senior Fellow of the Design Futures Council, McKay is known for his commitment to sustainability and employee-ownership culture.
