Biography
Robert K. Otani serves as Chief Technology Officer at Thornton Tomasetti, a position he has held since July 2018. With a strong foundation in structural engineering, Otani earned his BSCE in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from Rutgers University and his MS in Structural Engineering from Penn State University. His career includes serving as Vice President at Thornton Tomasetti and as an Associate at Arup. In addition to his professional practice, Otani has contributed significantly to design education, serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute's School of Architecture for ten years and as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation for six years. His dual focus on technology leadership and architectural education positions him at the intersection of engineering innovation and design thinking.
