Biography
Patrick Scannell is a technology executive, interdisciplinary author, and strategist. For three decades, he has led major projects across the arc of modern computing, from corporate roles managing billion-dollar product portfolios to startup ventures and advisory work for the U.S. government on 5G and AI. Separately, for the past thirteen years, Scannell has been researching the intersection of technology and humanity. His first book, The Disruption of Thought, published this summer with a foreword by Vint Cerf, argues that accelerating technology is disrupting the fabric of human thought, creating both extraordinary opportunity and existential threat for humanity. Scannell brings these two backgrounds together, advising leaders in fields such as academia, policy, and national security on how to harness technology to build better lives, more effective institutions, and more flourishing futures.
