Leila R Kamal

Leila R Kamal serves as Director of the Education practice at HDR, where she is responsible for business-building strategies, overall practice leadership, and project leadership for the education sector globally. With over 20 years of experience in the design of academic facilities, Kamal has built a distinguished career leading higher education projects across North America, Europe, the Middle East, China, South Korea, and Australia. Prior to joining HDR in 2022, she held principal and leadership positions at HGA Architects and Engineers, DSK | Architects + Planners, and spent two decades at EYP. Her expertise encompasses programming, planning, and design of teaching, research, student life, sports and recreation, performing arts, museums, administrative, and infrastructure buildings for colleges and universities. Kamal holds a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan.
