Biography
Karen Nelson serves as Dean of the School of Architecture and Director of Exhibits at the Boston Architectural College, a position she has held since 2014. With over three decades of experience at BAC, Nelson has advanced interdisciplinary initiatives, integrated practice and education, and strengthened the college's research capabilities through strategic exhibits and grants. Her expertise spans architectural design, urban design, and design research, with particular emphasis on sustainability and health-focused initiatives. Nelson previously served as Head and Acting Head of the School of Architecture and taught as adjunct faculty at Rhode Island School of Design for 18 years. She holds a Master of Architecture from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Design from MIT
