Biography
Cheryl Durst is Executive Vice President and CEO of IIDA, where she leads strategic direction and oversees global outreach and programmatic efforts, including more than a dozen international design competitions. A visionary leader and exceptional communicator, she has driven progress in achieving broad recognition for interior design's value and its role in shaping the built environment. Cheryl is a sought-after keynote speaker at domestic and global conferences, addressing topics from the future of design to the impact of culture, brand, and place. She holds honorary doctorates from the New York School of Interior Design, Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture. In 2016, she was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame as its first Leadership Award recipient and the first African American woman honored with this distinction.
