Biography
Amale Andraos, AIA, HFRAIC, is a co-founder and Principal of WORKac, the New York-based architecture firm she established in 2003 with Dan Wood. She is also a Professor and Dean Emeritus of Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), where she made history as the first woman to serve as dean. During her tenure, she also served as Architecture Advisor to the President and Special Advisor for the Climate School. Andraos is widely recognized as a thought leader in architecture and urbanism, with publications including Architecture and Representation: the Arab City, co-edited with Nora Akawi. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the New Museum's incubator space New Inc and has chaired the Aga Khan Award and served as President of the PHI Competition in Montreal. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Andraos continues to teach at Columbia GSAPP and contributes to the field through lectures, writing, and service on juries and advisory committees.
